This new build detached house has a 32 m2 indoor swimming pool. Heating for the pool and domestic hot water is provided by 4 x 30 tube solar collectors supplemented by two ‘A’ rated gas condensing boilers.

Solar heat is transferred into the pool’s filtration circuit via an indirect heat exchanger, connected in series with a second heat exchanger which is supplied by the gas boilers. The collectors are also linked to the domestic hot water storage. Firstly the solar collectors heat the storage cylinder, and once that demand is satisfied all excess heat is diverted to the swimming pool. The gas boilers ‘top up’ any shortfall.
