We offer a wide range of services from an assessment of your energy needs through to the design and installation of a system tailored to meet these. As part of the process we will assist with planning issues, where appropriate, and include monitoring tools to ensure optimal performance. For further details please see below.
Design & Build Tailored Systems
As an independent installer, and under the governance of the RECC code of consumer conduct, we are in a position to evaluate and recommend the most efficient, cost-effective system for our customers.
Our expertise in the assessment of the energy efficiency of buildings means we are able to offer you a ’requirements-led’ approach to system specification. As each site is unique, we do not promote any single technology for its own sake but will identify the combination of technologies that offers best value taking into account your lifestyle, building fabric, occupancy and location.
We use the standard MCS software to calculate room-by-room heat loss analysis in order to confirm which technology is more suitable to match the estimated peak heating losses and annual energy consumption. For example, this would determine whether heat pumps or biomass boilers were more appropriate in existing dwellings.
We optimize system performance to get the most out of both the renewable technologies. For example, we build heat dissipation into our solar thermal systems as a standard feature, so that we can install large collector areas that have the capacity to provide over 70% of your annual hot water requirement.
Planning & Listed Building Consent
Many of our projects have been on listed buildings, are within designated conservation areas or areas of outstanding natural beauty, and as such may not be covered under permitted development rights.
Also, an increasing number of PV and Solar Thermal installations are now ground mounted, thereby allowing larger arrays than would be possible on existing roofs.
We have a demonstrably successful track record of navigating these more complex projects through the planning process and will prepare and assemble the application documentation and act as owner’s agent, if requested.
We provide a design and installation service to assist architects, developers and builders with the integration of low energy/low CO2 technologies into their projects. Wherever possible the technologies for ventilation, heating, cooling and power need to be incorporated into a building’s fabric, not just bolted on during the first fix stage.
The ground on which a building sits, its foundations, its thermal mass, its internal layout and its orientation all have important roles to play in maintaining a comfortable living environment across the seasons whilst minimising energy use and CO2 emissions.
Energy Performance Monitoring & Control
We place special emphasis on systems for monitoring and control of a heating and power systems to ensure efficient performance of the energy generating, storage and distribution systems. Using a controller linked to a network of sensors, measurements can be logged in real time and downloaded for subsequent analysis on a computer.
From a better understanding of how components interact with the building, the performance of a system can be fine tuned.
