These 3 straw bale cottages have been constructed as holiday lets. A log gasification boiler supplies heating and hot water for the cottages and also replaced the oil boiler that used to serve a poorly insulated farmhouse.

A disused garage has been converted to serve as a boiler room housing a 60 kW EcoAngus Orligno boiler. This is connected to a 3,000 litre accumulator tank which serves a buried radial heat main supplying heat to the cottages and the house.

Transfer of heat from the boiler to the accumulator tank is controlled by a Laddomat 21-60 load charging pump and valve, helping to maintain efficient combustion. A differential temperature controller automatically switches off the charging pump if the boiler output temperature falls below the temperature in the accumulator.
