This farm includes a mix of homes, offices and light industrial units connected to a central boiler plant via heat main that radiate to five separate points of use. The plant is in use throughout the year; all heating used on the site is supplied using biomass.

The heat main is served by a 130 kW EcoAngus Super wood gasification boiler linked to a 3,000 litre Akvaterm providing initial heat storage capacity. Further distributed heat storage capacity is provided by a second 5,000 litre Akvaterm. Transfer of heat from the boiler to the Akvaterm is controlled by a Termovar load charging valve, helping to maintain efficient combustion.

Sontex heat meters measure the heat used in each building and the heat generated by the boiler. These figures are reported quarterly to OFGEM.

Logs are sourced locally at negligible cost and seasoned on site.
