The heating for this detached farmhouse is provided by an oil-fired Rayburn, a wood stove with a back boiler and solar thermal collector. These are linked by a thermal store which supports the central heating system and supplies mains pressure hot water. Together the wood stove and the solar offset consumption of heating oil.

A 20-tube solar collector has been installed within an inverted roof pitch to ensure that it is not visible from the road or adjacent properties.
