By installing a biomass boiler the cost of heating this holiday complex has been reduced dramatically.

We installed a 130 kW Herz Firematic Biocontrol 300 boiler in a centrally located barn. Woodchip is fed from a purpose-built 60m3 fuel store, constructed against an adjoining outside wall, using a spring agitator, auger and climbing screw

The boiler is connected to a 1,500 litre buffer tank, with a low loss header supplying 3 secondary circuits linked via a buried heat main to 6 holiday chalets, a swimming pool, a house and a flat. Transfer of heat from the boiler to the buffer tank is controlled by a load charging pump and valve, ensuring efficient combustion.

By using heat exchangers at each point of use we have been able to retain the existing oil-fired boilers in each of the buildings as backup, if the biomass boiler is out of service.
