We took advantage of the unusual inverted roof pitch of this grade 2 listed building to install a PV array that cannot be seen from ground level. On this basis we were able to obtain planning permission despite the building being listed and in a conservation area.
We installed a 6.15kWp array on the ESE and WNW facing pitches of the inverted roof consisting of 15 JA Solar 410 Wp modules mounted in landscape mode. The array has been retrofitted onto a slate roof using a retrofit mounting system for the roof anchors. The array is linked to the grid via a Solis 6kW inverter mounted in an upstairs cupboard, connected to a sub-consumer unit.
A Myenergi Zappi EV charger diverts any surplus power generated by the array to an electric vehicle parked on the street in front of the house. This increases self-consumption of the power generated by the array.
The inverter is connected to the internet and its status and performance can be monitored via the Solis online monitoring portal.
