We installed a 25 kW Ecoangus log gasification boiler as part of the extension and renovation of this large property. For most of the time the house will be heated entirely using logs, but for convenience a small gas boiler will provide a backup.

The boiler is located in a plant room within the house and heats a 2000 litre accumulator tank. Transfer of heat from the boiler to the accumulator is controlled by a Laddomat 21-60 load charging pump and valve, helping to maintain efficient combustion. A differential temperature controller switches off the charging pump if the boiler output temperature falls below the temperature in the accumulator.

A gas boiler supplies backup heating with its controls interlinked so that it fires up automatically if the temperature in the accumulator falls below its set point.  The accumulator is directly connected to a 3 zone heating system (underfloor heating manifold and radiators). Hot water is supplied to 5 bathrooms by a FRIWA heat demand module connected to a secondary circulation loop.
