This new development is located in an urban area and is comprised of two 3-storey buildings with 9 luxury apartments. The heating and hot water for each of the apartments is supplied by a Mitsubishi Ecodan air source heat pump. A 4kWp photovoltaic array consisting of 16 Sharp NU245 modules helps to offset some of the electricity consumed by the heat pumps.
The modules are divided into two separate sub-arrays, one on the roof of each building. To ensure that they cannot be seen from the ground the modules are mounted at a low angle of inclination. Because of space constraints and a requirement to avoid penetration of the roof membrane, purpose- built frames were fabricated in-situ, connecting modules together into a single ballasted unit.
