This barn was recently converted to provide luxury accommodation for short term holiday lets. The PV array helps to offset the cost of providing heating, hot water and an outdoor hot tub. It also helps to supply an EV charging point available for use by guests.

We installed an 8.16 kWp array on the south facing roof of the barn consisting of 24 JA Solar 340 Wp modules. The array has been retrofitted onto a slate roof using a retrofit mounting system for the roof anchors. It is positioned to allow the arrau capacity to be expanded with additional modules in future. The array is connected to the grid via a Solis 8kW inverter mounted in the utility room.

A Myenergi Eddi PV diverter switch diverts any surplus power generated by the array to the immersion heater to heat the hot water. This increases self-consumption of the power generated by the array and helps to reduce the electricity consumed by the oil-fired boiler.

The inverter is connected to the internet and its status and performance can be monitored via the Solis online monitoring portal.
