This purpose- built shore facility is located beside Ramsgate harbour. It is used as a base to provide logistical support and storage of equipment used for the ongoing maintenance of the Thanet Wind Farm.
The roof is constructed with slates using a Nu-Lok roofing system. The Nu-Lok system enables relative seamless integration of large PV and solar thermal arrays.
The solar thermal array consists of 18 separate modules connected in 3 parallel strings. These supply heat to a 450 litre NIBE VPAS double-shelled hot water storage cylinder which supplies showers, toilets and catering facilities. The solar pump station is a Resol DHE which features digital temperature, pressure and flow sensors to enable accurate measurement of heat transfer, and also to optimise the power consumption of the pump.
Auxiliary heating and hot water is supplied by a ground source heat pump.
